Mother's Day/Father's Day 2015

Just a couple pics to commemorate Mother's Day and Father's Day this year.  On Father's Day weekend Max had a big swim meet at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati.  Meets there are always super competitive. (and hot!  ick!)  The last day of the loooooong prelims/finals meet, Max won the boys 9/10 high point award!  He was pretty excited.  It was a very late night, like 9:45, so most of the swimmers had gone, but of course we stuck around to see him get his award and snap a few photos!  He's had a great long course season and it was fun for him to win this on Father's Day.

Mother's Day.  "Super Mom" and "Superman"

Last Day of 4th Grade, June 5, 2015

Ok, today I am playing MAJOR catch up.  And even though they will be in reverse order once I post all the events from summer, I'm doing it this way to help keep things streamlined for myself.  It's not easy shifting pictures around on blogger once you upload them all.  So I'll start back in June and work my way to August.  You'll just happen to read about August first as you scroll down the page.  Sorry!  :)

The last day of 4th grade was June 5.  Max had to leave school early that day for a swim meet at Miami University.  Grandma and Grandpa were up from TX to watch even!  He was super sad to leave school that day; he had an excellent year with Mrs Payne and Mrs Eshbaugh.  His favorite classes were math and science and he loved the different experiments they did (rocket launching and so forth… honestly it's been three months, I can't remember!  haha).

Below are some photos from the first day of 4th grade (beginning of the photos) and the last day of 4th grade (end of the photos) for comparison.  I am pretty sure Flip changed more than Max did!  How cool to see the difference…

At the end of the year assembly in the cafeteria, Max was one of about 25 kids in the 4th grade to receive the Presidential Gold Star Award, given to those who earned straight As all four quarters.  Pretty cool stuff!  I was able to sneak a few photos of that as well.

Also during our end of the year celebrations, Flip turned 1!  His birthday was May 30.  We took him to the K&W for a doggy cup, complete with a dog bone treat.  Bad idea.  (why did we think it would be ok to give a dog dairy??)  He was sick the entire next day.  Not cool.

Another successful school year!

Spring Break 2015

Jump for Joy, We're on Spring Break!

Oh spring break.  You are always much needed after a winter that typically starts in October in Ohio!  This year did not disappoint!  I dare say it was our best break ever.  We had great company (and Max was so thrilled to have his 17 year old cousin join us this year),  delicious food, fun activities, great weather… it was amazing.  The panhandle of FL is always beautiful but this time of year can be unpredictable as far as weather is concerned.  We lucked out with temps in the upper 70s and sun every single day.

This post is going to be mostly filled with photos (hope you like scrolling!); what better way to tell the story of our spring break in Miramar Beach and Destin, right?  To be quick though, we swam, beached, biked almost 10 miles, shopped, ate (and ate!), raced cars, played mini golf (Chris played "real" golf, too) , soaked each other in bumper boats, stayed up late and slept in, visited friends, colored Easter eggs, climbed a ropes course, zip lined, watched fireworks, listened to an Eagles cover band in concert, and so much more!  (phew!)  It was a wonderful trip and we were super sad to have it end.  We did get one extra day of fun in Nashville on our way home, as is our tradition.  It's always great to be back on campus at Vanderbilt and of course, take in a little Pancake Pantry before we head north.

Until next year, Florida…
