I pledge allegiance...

Happy 4th!!  Hope everyone had the day off work and found a way to celebrate.  We started the day at the Centerville Americana Parade; it was 60 degrees and pouring rain.  Who have thought we'd be freezing cold and wearing jackets on July 4th?  GRRRR!!  Anyway, we huddled up with our friends and formed an umbrella alliance and watched from the street corner while we gorged on donuts.  I would have bet money that no one but us would go but as you can see from the pics, the streets were lined with people!  Crazy.

We had a nice cookout with my parents and grandma (and were fortunate enough to have had room to shovel in some of her homemade strawberry shortcake!) before heading to the fireworks show.  This was Max's first show... we folded down the third row of my Trailblazer, loaded it with blankets and pillows and got in our jammies and set out to downtown Centerville for the show.

Max has also made a video for you to see... his teacher at preschool was very proud of him; in May she attempted to teach the kids (all age 3) the Pledge of Allegiance.  I'm definitely bragging when I tell you that she said he was the only one to learn it and picked it up after hearing it two times!  Here he is, waving the flag and reciting it for you... Enjoy!!!  and... God bless America!  :)  (Is that corny to say?  'Cause I mean it!)
